Trimble Fund

Trimble Funding 2016

The first round of funding awarded in 2016 was used for three purposes:

  1. To provide travel scholarships to Construction IT PhD students to attend academic and industry conferences and present their work conducted in collaboration with Trimble.
  2. To financially support PhD student Ruodan Lu to complete her PhD work on automated as-is bridge geometry modelling. This work started under the European Commission Infravation sponsored “SeeBridge” project, of which Trimble is a partner. This financial support will allow the work to be completed and exploited commercially.
  3. To co-sponsor the purchase of virtual reality equipment together with the InnovateUK sponsored “Digitizing Bridges” project. This will equip the Construction IT laboratory with the capacity to exhibit the outcomes of projects sponsored by Trimble and others, enable 4th year projects on virtual reality, and allow for collaborative discovery in virtual reality environments.
